Director Mari Selvaraj, known for acclaimed films like "Pariyerum Perumal" and "Karnan," recently engaged in flood relief efforts in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Accompanied by Udayanidhi Stalin, the Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu, Selvaraj participated in the rescue of more than 60 people affected by the floods.
The Northeast Monsoon has intensified in the region, causing the Tamiraparani River to overflow and impacting districts like Nellai and Thoothukudi. Selvaraj, a native of Tirunelveli, took a hands-on approach to the relief mission, utilizing boats to access interior villages that remained inaccessible.
Mari Selvaraj said on his X page, “More than 60 people who were trapped at the Karungulam bus stop have been rescued. The people of Muthalangurichi have also been rescued. It is difficult to enter the next villages as the speed of the flood is not slowing down.. People should be brave and safe until dawn."
